Made it to Chicago -- finally!

We'll in true Sparkes fashion we made it to Chicago a tad late and a lot tired!

We had a minor mechanical issue with the 4Runner before leaving home so didn't set off until late yesterday afternoon. On the plus side we set off with great fanfare as almost the entire street came out to send us off!

We didn't arrive until late which meant that we were "parking lot boondocking" last night -- yes, the girls were impressed when they awoke this morning to find the trailer here:

Certainly not the rocky mountains that we promised them!

On the plus side, we were the first customers of the day at Campers World!

We learnt a few important lessons on this first leg:
1.) Megan has discovered how to open her car door at highway speeds -- child locks are now engaged.
2.) Scotch mints make AJ's dental fillings fall out -- a dentist visit is now in the near future!
3.) Trying to sleep in a parking lot, facing the highway and backing onto a rail line makes for a very rough nights sleep!

  2. WOW!!! Only a 1/2 day and quite the adventure already. :-)
Why didn't you just park in Steve's driveway. That would have been quite the site for both the girls and Steve - lol.
